LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Joseph Demarco upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the National Hometown Hero Award

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Demarco has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Joseph Demarco
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the National Home-
town Hero Award; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Demarco has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Born in Buffalo and residing in Orchard Park, Joseph Demarco
holds a Business degree from the University at Buffalo; he is Founder of
and a volunteer pilot with Wings Flights of Hope, Inc., a nonprofit
organization established to help people in need of free air transporta-
tion for medical and humanitarian purposes; and
WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, "giving hope to others, one
flights at a time," these volunteer pilots such as Joseph Demarco ensure
that transportation does not stand in the may of a patient receiving the
best possible treatment available; and
WHEREAS, in addition to the auspicious National Hometown Hero Award,
Joseph Demarco received an Endeavor Award on May 4, 2014, at the Cali-
fornia Science Center in Los Angeles; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Joseph Demarco is a steadfast volun-
teer with numerous organizations and donates his platelets biweekly to
the Roswell Park Cancer Institute; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Joseph Demarco has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Diane, and their son,
Joseph, both of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and
rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Joseph Demarco has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Joseph Demarco upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the National Hometown Hero Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Joseph Demarco.
