LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 2nd Annual Intersolar Summit
USA East to be held on May 7, 2015, in Brooklyn, New York
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those events and organizations which are dedicated to
increasing public awareness of, and appreciation for, the natural
resources of New York, recognizing the role all citizens have in
protecting the environment and the quality of life in this Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the 2nd
Annual Intersolar Summit USA East to be held on Thursday, May 7, 2015,
at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the last few years, several East Coast states,
such as New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts, have become
a backbone for the solar industry development of the United States;
organizers, including Mid-Atlantic Solar Industries Association, New
York Solar Industries Association, InterSolar, and Resilient Solar are
proud to assist with this auspicious event; and
WHEREAS, Trailblazers Mid-Atlantic Solar Industries Association, New
York Solar Industries Association, InterSolar, and Resilient Solar are
dedicated to educating the public about the advantages and facts of
solar energy, and envision a solar-powered future; and
WHEREAS, The 2nd Annual Intersolar Summit USA East will feature both a
conference and accompanying exhibition in order to strengthen the
networking aspect and foster exchange of ideas between attendees; pres-
entation and discussion topics include keys shifts in the East Coast
solar markets, business climate updates, new potential growth areas,
looming legislation issues affecting state-specific industry develop-
ments and upcoming challenges to meet stakeholders' expectations; and
WHEREAS, Additionally, delegates can take advantage of a focused
exchange during breakout sessions covering grid stability, energy
storage/battery safety and policy issues; and
WHEREAS, The day-long event will begin with opening and welcoming
remarks by Markus Elsasser, CEO of Solar Promotion GmbH, followed by
additional welcoming comments from James Spano, Managing Partner at
Spano Partners Holding, LLC; and
WHEREAS, The Keynote Address is entitled, What's Next for Solar Energy
in the Mid-Atlantic States? Implications of the Mid-Term Elections for
the Region's Solar Future, with plenary speeches by Richard Kauffman,
Chairman of Energy and Finance for New York, New York State Energy
Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), and Audrey Zibelman, Chair
at New York Department of Public Service; and
WHEREAS, Lyle Rawlings, President Mid-Atlantic Solar Energy Industries
Association (MSEIA) and Ron Celentano, President, Pennsylvania Solar
Energy Industries Association (PASEIA) will address the topic of State-
Level Solar Market Environmental Updates: Business Climate 2014 and
Beyond, Upcoming Challenges and Regulatory Frameworks; and
WHEREAS, There will be a talk on Future Paths for the East Coast Elec-
tricity Business - Vision of a Collaborative Approach with plenary
speeches by Dr. Richard Perez, Research Professor, University at Albany
and Karl R. Rabago, Executive Director, Pace Energy and Climate Center;
and
WHEREAS, The next discussion will focus on The U.S. East Coast Energy
Storage Landscape - An Evaluation of Potentials and Profitable Business
Cases, which will moderated by James Spano, Managing Partner, Spano
Partners Holding, LLC, and Speakers Doug Staker, Vice President of
Global Sales, Demand Energy, Mark Crowdis, President, Renewable Energy,
global X Tax, and Tom Leyden, Vice President of Energy Storage Deploy-
ment, SunEdison; and
WHEREAS, The next topic of the afternoon will be Shedding New Light on
the Burning Question: How to Facilitate Access to Capital and Maximize
Opportunities in Solar PV Financing beyond the ITC by Alfred Griffin,
President, NY Green Bank, which will be followed by a talk about Serving
Markets Large and Small - Utility Scale to Residential; and
WHEREAS, The last speech of the day will focus on Turning the Tables:
Expert Discussion Between Installers and Commercial Customers, which
will be moderated by Ankush Halbe, Program Manager, Photovoltaic Manu-
facturing Consortium (PVMC); and
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon all citizens to recognize and applaud
the efforts of events such as the 2nd Annual InterSolar Summit USA East
and organizations such as Mid-Atlantic Solar Industries Association, New
York Solar Industries Association, InterSolar, and Resilient Solar which
work tirelessly on behalf of protecting our natural surroundings for the
benefit of present and future generations of New Yorkers; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 2nd Annual Intersolar Summit USA East to be held on May
7, 2015, in Brooklyn, New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mid-Atlantic Solar Industries Association, New York Solar
Industries Association, InterSolar, and Resilient Solar.
