LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Paul J. Cavataio, distin-
guished citizen and devoted member of his community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Paul J. Cavataio, formerly of Candor, New York, died on
Friday, December 19, 2014, at the age of 98; and
WHEREAS, Born May 28, 1916, in Auburn, New York to Giovanni and Scho-
lastica Cavataio, Paul J. Cavataio honorably served in the United States
Army during the Second World War; he earned five Bronze Stars, the
Bronze Star Medal and a Purple Heart; and
WHEREAS, Paul J. Cavataio distinguished himself in his profession and
by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
his community; and
WHEREAS, A true family man and well respected businessman, Paul J.
Cavataio, along with his brother, Jim, owned and operated The Farm
Equipment Store in Candor, New York for 35 years; and
WHEREAS, Paul J. Cavataio's commitment to excellence, and his spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including char-
itable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast commitment to the community he so ably
served, Paul J. Cavataio supported many local organizations, and served
as a member of the Board of Directors at Tioga State Bank; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Cleo; four brothers,
James, Samuel, Thomas and John; and a sister, Pauline, Paul J. Cavataio
is survived by his children, J. Paul (Carol) and S. Christine (Jack)
Glassman; granddaughter, Melissa (Tyler) Boland; great-grandson, Giovan-
ni; sister, Neva; as well as several nieces and nephews; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit, imbued with a sense of
compassion, and comforted by a loving family, Paul J. Cavataio leaves
behind a legacy which will long endure the passage of time and will
remain as a comforting memory to all he served and befriended; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Paul J. Cavataio, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Paul J. Cavataio.
