LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending The Honorable Joseph Calabrese upon
the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Citizen of the Year
Award by the Franklin Square Historical Society
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
The Honorable Joseph Calabrese upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Citizen of the Year Award by the Franklin Square
Historical Society to be celebrated at its 35th Annual Dinner on Thurs-
day, April 30, 2015, at the Plattdeutsche Park Restaurant in Franklin
Square, New York; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Calabrese, a graduate of St. Johns University,
completed his Juris Doctorate at St. John's University School of Law in
1971; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed public servant has served as both an Assistant
District Attorney in Nassau County and as Assistant Town Attorney in the
Town of Hempstead; he has also enjoyed a successful career in private
practice for many years; and
WHEREAS, For nearly three decades, Judge Joseph Calabrese has provided
outstanding service to the people of his community in such important
positions as Surrogate Court Judge, Nassau County District Court Judge,
and Nassau County Supreme Court Judge; and
WHEREAS, Judge Joseph Calabrese has been called upon to contribute his
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Judge Joseph Calabrese has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those singular individuals who devote their purposeful lives
and careers to preserving the rights and protecting the welfare of the
citizens of their community and the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend The Honorable Joseph Calabrese upon the occasion of his desig-
nation as recipient of the Citizen of the Year Award by the Franklin
Square Historical Society; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Honorable Joseph Calabrese.
