LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Bruce Guyette upon the occasion of
celebrating his 500th career victory as Head Coach of the Minisink
Valley High School Girls Softball Team
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to commend notable
educators and athletic coaches who serve the youth of this great Empire
State, and who have distinguished themselves and their schools through
outstanding commitment and exemplary athletic achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Bruce Guyette upon the occasion of his 500th career victory as Head
Coach of the Minisink Valley High School Girls Softball Team which was
celebrated at a ceremony on Thursday, April 23, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Coach Bruce Guyette achieved this historic milestone when his
Minisink Valley Warriors defeated Pine Bush High School 3-2 on April 17,
2015; and
WHEREAS, A native of Carthage, New York, Bruce Guyette graduated from
the University at Albany, and began his teaching career in the Minisink
Valley Central School District in 1981; and
WHEREAS, In 1986, Bruce Guyette began coaching the Minisink Valley
Warriors Girls Softball Team; he quickly became known for both his
passion for the game, and his dedication to helping his players succeed
both on and off the field; and
WHEREAS, The face of his school's softball program for nearly three
decades, Coach Bruce Guyette is highly regarded across New York State
for the discipline, preparedness, and sound fundamentals he instills in
his players; his teams have won 10 Section IX titles, and have averaged
17 victories per season; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Coach Bruce Guyette is ranked third in New York
State on the list for highest total career victories; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Tara, and their three
children, Madeline, Ian, and Dylan, all of whom feel privileged to be a
part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those educators
and athletic coaches who enhance the well-being and vitality of their
community and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence
certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations, to
congratulate Bruce Guyette upon the occasion of celebrating his 500th
career victory as Head Coach of the Minisink Valley High School Girls
Softball Team; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Coach Bruce Guyette.
