LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Gene Burns upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of a Young Professionals Award by the SULLIVAN
COUNTY DEMOCRAT

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young adults within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr.
Gene Burns upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of a Young
Professionals Award by the SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Gene Burns, Supervising Pharmacist at Riverside Remedies,
was selected for this esteemed recognition for being hardworking, ambi-
tious, and creative; and
WHEREAS, A 2006 graduate of Liberty Central School, Dr. Gene Burns
enrolled in Albany College of Pharmacy, one of the premier pharmaceu-
tical colleges in New York State, which has a six-year program of study;
in 2012, he earned his degree, passed the rigorous boards, and returned
home to Sullivan County as one of 35 Registered Pharmacists in the coun-
ty; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Gene Burn's began his illustrious healthcare career work-
ing for Medicine Shoppe in Liberty, New York; during this time, he was
tasked with helping to open up the company's new pharmacy in Roscoe, New
York; he found being a part of a small team, and interacting with the
Roscoe community was extremely rewarding; and
WHEREAS, Shortly after, Dr. Gene Burns explored the idea of opening
his own pharmacy, and learned that Jeffrey Weir was already in the proc-
ess of opening a pharmacy in Callicoon; together, they designed and
implemented the pharmacy, Riverside Remedies; and
WHEREAS, Today, 26-year-old Dr. Gene Burns serves as Supervising Phar-
macist at Riverside Remedies, responsible for all regulations and legis-
lative compliance; he relishes the personal touch a local pharmacist can
provide, and his interaction with customers who need advice and help
with their personal healthcare needs; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Gene Burns and the entire Riverside Remedies team has
been embraced by the Callicoon community, which was without a pharmacy
for more than a decade; and
WHEREAS, Outside of work, Dr. Gene Burns is an avid bicyclist, and
enjoys the rolling hills, natural beauty, and friendly atmosphere Sulli-
van County provides; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Gene Burns looks forward to Riverside Remedies' future
advent of medication therapy management, fully confident that it will
continue to enjoy the sparkling successes it has experienced thus far;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Gene Burns upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of a Young Professionals Award by the SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Gene Burns.
