LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring William H. Chellis upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of a Young Professionals Award by the
SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young adults within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
William H. Chellis upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
a Young Professionals Award by the SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT; and
WHEREAS, William H. Chellis, attorney and minister, was selected for
this esteemed recognition for being hardworking, ambitious, and crea-
tive; and
WHEREAS, A seventh generation son of Jeffersonville, New York, William
H. Chellis earned his Juris Doctorate degree from Villanova University
School of Law, and his Master of Divinity degree from the Reformed Pres-
byterian Theological Seminary; and
WHEREAS, Today, William H. Chellis is an attorney and minister who
lived in Rochester, New York, before moving back to Jeffersonville three
years ago with his family to open his own practice and pastor local
churches; and
WHEREAS, William H. Chellis's law practice specializes in workers'
compensation, family law, personal injury, wills and trusts, DWI, real
estate, and Social Security disability, among many others; and
WHEREAS, Along with their three children, William H. Chellis and his
wife, Katrina, reside in an historic house in Jeffersonville, which
dates back to 1903; the structure that once housed the Griffin House Bed
and Breakfast, in 1890, the land to build the house was purchased by his
mother's great-great-grandfather; its renovations are a testament to the
value of knowing where William came from, and keeping its history alive
for future generations; and
WHEREAS, As an ordained minister, William H. Chellis delivers sermons
at his two parishes, the Jeffersonville and Kenoza Lake United Methodist
churches; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his law practice and ministry, William H.
Chellis spends his time and energies as a member on the Board of Direc-
tors for JEMS (Jeffersonville Enhances More of Sullivan), a Sullivan
Renaissance group which, for more than a decade, has sought to beautify
the village; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 16 years, Katrina,
and their three children, Elizabeth, William, and Mary, all of whom feel
privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor William H. Chellis upon the occasion of his designation as recipi-
ent of a Young Professionals Award by the SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to William H. Chellis.
