LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Linda Cheng upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of a Young Professionals Award by the SULLIVAN
COUNTY DEMOCRAT

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young adults within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Linda Cheng upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of a Young
Professionals Award by the SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT; and
WHEREAS, Linda Cheng, Owner/Manager of Soy Asian Cuisine, was selected
for this esteemed recognition for being hardworking, ambitious, and
creative; and
WHEREAS, Originally from Whitestone, Queens, New York, Linda Cheng
majored in Hospitality at Pennsylvania State University; her family
originates from Fuzhou, China, a coastal city whose cultural cuisine
specializes in soups and seafood; and
WHEREAS, A savvy entrepreneur who was raised by a family involved with
food, Linda Cheng could not help falling in love with the restaurant
business; in addition to her parents' distribution business, her sister,
May, is the manager/owner of a restaurant located in Huntington, Long
Island; and
WHEREAS, Today, 23-year-old Linda Cheng serves as the Manager of her
restaurant, Soy Asian Cuisine, located in Monticello, New York; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of Linda Cheng, this wonderful
eatery is a melding of different cultures and cuisines which take inspi-
ration from several Chinese, Japanese, and Korean foods; she created its
menu with the help of her head chef and sushi chef who was trained in
culinary arts at renowned sushi spots such as Nobu and Masa; and
WHEREAS, Soy Asian Cuisine employs approximately 20 individuals, and
continues to provide signature sushi dishes to the Monticello community;
and
WHEREAS, Linda Cheng's restaurant, Soy Asian Cuisine, will celebrate
its first Anniversary in July of 2015, fully confident that it will
continue to enjoy the sparkling successes it has experienced thus far;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Linda Cheng upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of a
Young Professionals Award by the SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Linda Cheng.
