LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Elizabeth Devine upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the 2015 Outstanding Contribution by a
Senior Citizen Award from the New York State Senate

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to
the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their past
contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and valuable
asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Elizabeth Devine upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2015 Outstanding Contribution by a Senior Citizen Award from the New
York State Senate; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Devine of Wappingers Falls, New York, is a retired
elementary school teacher who has always found time to volunteer in her
community; and
WHEREAS, A woman of singular distinction, Elizabeth Devine has been
called upon to contribute her time and talents to countless civic and
charitable endeavors and has always given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Devine is the past President of the Grinnell
Library Board, and has served as an Associate Board Member and past Vice
President for Capital Improvement and Resource Development for the Chil-
dren's Home of Poughkeepsie; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Elizabeth Devine serves as the Vice President of
the Wappingers Historical Society, the Chair of the Wappingers Falls
Walking History Trails Museum in the Streets, and on the AAUW Woman of
the Year committee; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, this valuable senior citizen is a member of the
New Hamburgh Yacht Club Ladies Auxiliary, and serves as American History
Chair for the Daughters of the American Revolution; she also serves on
the Choir and Property Committee, and as a Book Bunch volunteer for the
St. Nicholas Church on the Hudson; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Elizabeth Devine has been a volun-
teer in numerous capacities throughout her life, and has served as an
excellent role model for others; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Elizabeth Devine has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband Jack, and her two
daughters, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and
rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which Elizabeth Devine has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Elizabeth Devine upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the 2015 Outstanding Contribution by a Senior Citizen Award from the
New York State Senate; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Elizabeth Devine.
