LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Yaw Boateng upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Rising Star Award by the Lark Street
Business Improvement District

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to recognize and
support the entrepreneurs of small businesses whose dedication and
accomplishments contribute to the economic health and vitality of the
communities they serve in the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Yaw
Boateng upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Rising
Star Award by the Lark Street Business Improvement District to be cele-
brated at its Annual Champagne on the Park on Thursday, May 7, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Lark Street is the vibrant heart of Albany, the Capital of
New York State; across the 10 blocks of the Lark Street Business
Improvement District, many unique and exciting businesses line the
street offering "one of a kind" experiences for residents and visitors
alike; and
WHEREAS, Champagne on the Park is an annual event which supports the
year-round efforts of the Lark Street Business Improvement District to
continue the development and sustainability of this unique neighborhood
through such programs as neighborhood safety and marketing, maintenance
and beautification, and special events and promotions; and
WHEREAS, The Rising Star Award is being presented to a new small busi-
ness owner on Lark Street who embodies the qualities which have made the
neighborhood the unique, diverse, and prosperous place it has been and
will continue to be; and
WHEREAS, A vital part of the Lark Street community for many years, Yaw
Boateng is the owner of YB Graphics, a small business he began using a
small machine to print t-shirts for friends and co-workers while attend-
ing SUNY Albany; and
WHEREAS, Now in its second year of operations, YB Graphics now offers
a wide variety of products including marketing materials, stationery,
and print media; it has become a model for the neighborhood's small
business, neighbor friendly, do-it-yourself attitude; and
WHEREAS, Today, Yaw Boateng is well-known for his commitment to offer-
ing high quality products with a smile, and friendly demeanor; he has
exemplified the diversity of service and personal touch which has been
the foundation of Lark Street's success; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those entrepre-
neurs who enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and
have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have
earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Yaw Boateng upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Rising Star Award by the Lark Street Business Improvement District;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Yaw Boateng.
