LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Anastasya Lorraine Wilson upon the occa-
sion of being named the 2015 Buffalo Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Anastasya Lorraine Wilson upon the occasion of being named the 2015
Buffalo Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Being named Youth of the Year is the highest honor a Boys &
Girls Club member can receive; the nomination recognizes outstanding
contributions to a member's family, school, community and Boys & Girls
Club, as well as overcoming personal challenges and obstacles; honorees
such as Anastasya Lorraine Wilson are shining examples and living proof
that great futures start at Boys & Girls Clubs; and
WHEREAS, Overcoming much adversity, Anastasya Lorraine Wilson has
become a strong leader in the Buffalo Boys & Girls Club, Eggertsville
Clubhouse; in its Character and Leadership Program, she has led groups
and started movements which have had a profound impact on the entire
body of members, both in and out of the clubhouse; and
WHEREAS, As President of Torch Club, a program designed for 11 to 13
year-olds, Anastasya Lorraine Wilson has influenced younger club members
to make positive choices, to be there for each other and to work towards
and achieve their goals; and
WHEREAS, In addition, this exemplary young woman is the youngest
member of the Buffalo Boys & Girls Club to be chosen for a paid intern-
ship at a local law firm; through the Youth of the Year program she has
met local politicians and has been asked to sit on the local Youth Coun-
cil; and
WHEREAS, Anastasya Lorraine Wilson has always been a high performing
student, insisting on taking advantage of the most challenging opportu-
nities; she sets high expectations for herself, and continuously
receives High Honor Roll and other accolades from her school recognizing
her academic achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to honor the youth
of today, and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Anastasya Lorraine Wilson upon the occasion of being named the
2015 Buffalo Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year, and to wish to her
continued success in all of her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Anastasya Lorraine Wilson.
