LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Mr. and Mrs. Lou Poulos upon the
occasion of celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commemorate and
recognize certain milestones celebrated by citizens of this great Nation
and Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Mr. and Mrs. Lou Poulos upon the occasion of celebrating their 50th
Wedding Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Lou and Vera Poulos celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniver-
sary, surrounded by family and friends, on April 9, 2015, in Olean, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Lou and Vera Poulos were married in Niagara Falls City Hall
on April 9, 1965, by then Mayor E. Dent Lackey; and
WHEREAS, The couple's lives have taken them across the continent,
having lived in Calgary, Alberta; Niagara Falls, New York; and now in
Olean, New York; and
WHEREAS, Both Lou and Vera Poulos have a deep-seated passion for
animals, especially apparent in their love for their cat, Sasha; and
WHEREAS, They have lived vibrant and active lives, with parts in the
music and movie industries; Lou was a member in a 1950s band known as
The Raindrops, and Vera was a model; both have also served as teachers,
sharing their skills and lessons garnered through careers in business
and sales; and
WHEREAS, This loving couple has experienced the incredible joys and
sorrows characteristic of those with the dedication and devotion to
savor a full life together; their marriage has inspired the lives of
many friends and family members; and
WHEREAS, Family and friends describe Lou and Vera Poulos as a truly
loving couple and a "match made in heaven"; and
WHEREAS, This beloved couple has enriched the lives of those around
them through their joyous and sincere love for each other; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to publicly recog-
nize and honor the lives of beloved citizens who have reached a remark-
able age and who have witnessed and celebrated the innovations, cultural
developments, and awesome achievements of this country during the last
century; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Lou Poulos upon the occasion of celebrating
their 50th Wedding Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mr. and Mrs. Lou Poulos.
