LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Gustave Logerfo for his distinguished
service to Queens County by Little Neck-Douglaston American Legion Post
No. 103 on May 25, 2015
WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in this Nation, and the great
State of New York, is reflective of the purposeful lives and good works
of those patriotic and civic-minded community members who dedicate their
lives and careers to the service of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Gustave Loger-
fo for his distinguished service to Queens County by Little Neck-Dougla-
ston American Legion Post No. 103 on Monday, May 25, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Gustave Logerfo is a 50-year member of Little Neck-Douglaston
American Legion Post No. 103 where he serves as both Sergeant-at-Arms
and Cook; and
WHEREAS, A veteran of the Korean War, Gustave Logerfo joined the
United States Marine Corps at the age of 17; and
WHEREAS, For his courageous service to his country, Gustave Logerfo
was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor, Combat Action Ribbon, Korean
Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service
Medal, and Good Conduct Medal, and several other ribbons; he was
discharged with the esteemed rank of Sergeant; and
WHEREAS, Following his discharge from the military, Gustave Logerfo
continued his brave service to others as a New York City Fireman and
Fire Marshal until his retirement; and
WHEREAS, A proud supporter of veterans' causes, Gustave Logerfo serves
as a member and Treasurer of the 1st Marine Division Association of Long
Island; and
WHEREAS, A tremendous asset to Little Neck-Douglaston American Legion
Post No. 103, Gustave Logerfo has served the organization with loyalty,
honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Gustave Logerfo has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Gustave Logerfo has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Gustave Logerfo for his distinguished service to Queens County by
Little Neck-Douglaston American Legion Post No. 103; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Gustave Logerfo.
