LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Kaela Hilaire upon the occasion of
becoming a member of the 1,000 Point Club of the Floral Park Memorial
High School Varsity Basketball Team

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, nurtured by
dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Kaela Hilaire, a junior for the Floral Park Memorial High
School Varsity Basketball Team, recorded her 1,000th career point during
her team's 72-42 victory over Friends Academy on Saturday, December 6,
2014; and
WHEREAS, This talented young woman has also achieved such distin-
guished honors as being named Second Team All Long Island, and Nassau
County Player of the Year for Small Schools, as well as Conference Play-
er of the Year, and All-County honors; she has been playing on the
varsity basketball team since seventh grade; and
WHEREAS, Kaela Hilaire's performance throughout the season has been
outstanding and she was loyally and enthusiastically supported by fami-
ly, fans, friends and the community at large; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend and pay
tribute to those young people who, by achieving outstanding success in
athletic competition, have inspired and brought pride to our majestic
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
exemplary athlete now stands honorably, with just pride in her accom-
plishments and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding
and appreciating the caring counsel and support provided by her coaches,
teachers, and parents; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Kaela Hilaire upon the occasion of becoming a member of the
1,000 Point Club of the Floral Park Memorial High School Varsity Basket-
ball Team; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kaela Hilaire.
