LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Village of South Floral Park upon
the occasion of hosting its 25th Annual Armed Forces Day Ceremony on May
16, 2015
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to pay the highest trib-
ute to the members of the United States Armed Forces who so faithfully
serve their community and country with contributing to the safety and
welfare of others and the preservation of the freedoms and democratic
principles upon which this State and Nation are founded; and
WHEREAS, The dedication and sacrifices of our military personnel
ensure our continued role as a Nation which embodies the ideals of
democracy, and which is a defender of liberty for people throughout the
world; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend
the Village of South Floral Park upon the occasion of hosting its 25th
Annual Armed Forces Day Ceremony on Saturday, May 16, 2015; and
WHEREAS, The 2015 Village of South Floral Park Armed Forces Day Cere-
mony will feature speeches by Mayor Geoffrey N. Prime, as well as numer-
ous community leaders and veterans, including Keynote Speaker Scott
Castillo, Deputy Director of the Nassau County Veterans Services Agency;
and
WHEREAS, In addition, South Floral Park village officials, Civic Asso-
ciation members, and the South Floral Park Volunteer Fire Department
will also be present among all the residents and invited guests; and
WHEREAS, For the past 25 years, the Incorporated Village of South
Floral Park has proudly honored members of the United States Armed Forc-
es, and acknowledging these men and women who courageously dedicate
their lives to protecting our freedom; and
WHEREAS, The banner of freedom will always wave over our beloved New
York and all of America, the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave;
and
WHEREAS, Residents of this great State must never forget the courage
with which our men and women in uniform serve their country, and must
recognize that no greater debt is owed than that owed to those who gave
their lives for their beloved Nation and to those who continue to be
missing in action; and
WHEREAS, The freedoms and security we cherish as Americans come at a
very high price for those serving in the military in times of conflict;
it is fitting and proper that we who are the beneficiaries of those who
risk their lives, leaving their families behind, express our appreci-
ation and eternal gratitude for their sacrifices and courageous acts;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Village of South Floral Park upon the occasion of hosting
its 25th Annual Armed Forces Day Ceremony on May 16, 2015; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Honorable Geoffrey N. Prime, Mayor, Village of South
Floral Park, and the Village of South Floral Park Armed Forces Day
Committee.
