LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the Centennial Anniversary of the
Sea Cliff Children's Library on May 31, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across the great State
of New York is reflective of certain exemplary institutions whose
purpose is dedicated to serving the community and the needs of its citi-
zenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the Centennial Anniversary of the Sea Cliff Children's Library to
be celebrated on Sunday, May 31, 2015; and
WHEREAS, The Sea Cliff Village Library offers an extensive collection
of reading material in all available formats to address a wide range of
interests; the Library draws its vitality from the Village of Sea
Cliff's demographic mix which includes young children, downtown arts and
crafts businesses, independently employed artists, and aging adults; and
WHEREAS, The Sea Cliff Village Library has several goals set forth in
the Long Range Plan to specifically address the needs of its members and
to envision the future needs of the entire Sea Cliff community; includ-
ing: to continue to expand its programs to deepen the Library's signif-
icance to its distinct community; to maintain and improve library tech-
nology and provide easy access to information and resources using
electronic media; to ensure adequate financial resources to meet the
needs of its community in the future; to continue to develop and main-
tain a dynamic collection which meets the recreational, informational
and educational needs of the community; to upgrade its historical
infrastructure and modernize its environment for patrons' convenience,
comfort and pleasure; to stimulate patronage through public awareness of
its resources and services; and to partner with the community's facili-
ties and institutions, including the local school district, to promote
greater participation in literary and educational events; and
WHEREAS, Friends of Sea Cliff Library is a non-profit group of volun-
teers whose mission is to increase awareness and expand the use of Sea
Cliff's Adult and Children's libraries; this vital organization supports
improvements and enhancements in services and resources, raises funds to
meet the library's needs, and encourages cultural and educational activ-
ities; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Sea Cliff Children's Library is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its staff, whose involvement is, and
always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeav-
ors on behalf of the institution and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, Steeped in a proud and distinguished history, the Sea Cliff
Children's Library may take just pride in its purposeful growth, as it
looks forward to continuing to serve the educational, cultural and
intellectual needs of the community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the Centennial Anniversary of the Sea Cliff Children's
Library; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Sea Cliff Children's Library.
