LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Blount
Library in Franklinville, New York

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge certain exemplary institutions that improve
the quality of life for communities within this great Empire State
through increased access to educational and recreational resources; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body hereby commemorates the 100th
Anniversary of the Blount Library in Franklinville, New York; and
WHEREAS, The library serves as a local institution, providing resi-
dents with an array of literary works, technology resources to access
worldwide materials through the internet, and important classes and
educational programs; and
WHEREAS, In recent years the library has made a variety of building
improvements including an addition that was added in 2009; in 2014 the
library added the AWE Early Literacy Learning Station, which offers
great learning activities for children in pre-K to Second Grade; and
WHEREAS, As a tradition, the Blount Library issues a yearly Christmas
ornament; the series, which has been offered for 12 years includes
images of prominent local institutions such as St. Philomena's Church,
Morgan Hall, Miner's Cabin, Ontario Knife, Fountain, Hotel Lester, First
Baptist Church, the Presbyterian Church, and the Blount Library; and
WHEREAS, The Blount Library in Franklinville, New York, is chartered
to serve the nearly 3,000 residents in the Village and Town of Franklin-
ville; and
WHEREAS, A center of cultural, social and educational activity for
the Franklinville community, the Blount Library provides facilities for
reading programs, educational programs for toddlers to adults, volunteer
opportunities and other community meetings; the library also partners
Ten Broeck Academy and Franklinville Central School to support educa-
tional programming; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commemorate
milestones in the histories of certain exceptional public institutions
in this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Blount Library in Franklin-
ville, New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Blount Library.
