LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Robert Kosior upon the occasion of
his induction into the 2014 Athletic Hall of Fame by the SS Seward
Institute
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those indi-
viduals whose exceptional athletic prowess leaves an enduring legacy in
their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Robert Kosior upon the occasion of his induction into the 2014
Athletic Hall of Fame by the SS Seward Institute, which was celebrated
at its Induction Ceremony on September 27, 9014; and
WHEREAS, An important figure in the history of the SS Seward insti-
tute, Robert Kosior, Class of 1969, had an outstanding high school
athletic career; he played varsity baseball for four years; varsity
soccer for three years, and basketball for two years; he made All-County
in all three sports multiple times; and
WHEREAS, Playing mostly on the offensive line in 1967, Robert Kosior
led the Section A soccer Division with 16 goals; his goals were instru-
mental in helping the SS Seward Institute capture the Division Crown;
and
WHEREAS, That same year, Robert Kosior scored six soccer goals against
Otisville, achieving a school record that stood for many years; and
WHEREAS, As a member of the basketball team, Robert Kosior made the
All-County Section B Team; he was the team's assist leader, as well as
an excellent passer; and
WHEREAS, Robert Kosior's baseball team, under Coach Paul, won the
Division Title in his junior year as he was a solid player at the plate
and shortstop; he also made All-County Section B; and
WHEREAS, The following year, Robert Kosior moved to the new position
of catcher under new coach, JJ Kimiecik, and made All-County, catching
the serves from a fellow SS Seward Hall of Fame member; and
WHEREAS, Upon graduating from high school, Robert Kosior played for
various fast pitch and slow pitch softball teams in several Orange Coun-
ty leagues; in addition, he was a Board Certified high school boys and
girls basketball official; and
WHEREAS, Robert Kosior went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in
Civil Engineering from Union College, and was a licensed professional
engineer in New York State; and
WHEREAS, Recently, Robert Kosior of Goshen, New York, retired from
Orange and Rockland after more than 33 years of distinguished service;
and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Karen, and their two
daughters, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and
rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Athletes such as Robert Kosior provide a tremendous service
to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of
student-athletes in their athletic journeys and ensuring their success
in their future years; and
WHEREAS, Robert Kosior has clearly been an inspiration to the youth of
the SS Seward Institute, as well as to the community-at-large, and
accordingly merits recognition and applause for his impressive dedi-
cation to others; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
public education by providing their skills and talents to our students
and our schools; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Robert Kosior upon the occasion of his induction into the
2014 Athletic Hall of Fame by the SS Seward Institute; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert Kosior.
