LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Troy Chuckran upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the
Orange-Ulster BOCES on May 1, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Troy Chuckran
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar
Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES celebrated at its Second
Annual Awards Breakfast, on May 1, 2015, at Kuhl's Highland House,
Middletown, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes outstanding high school
students for their accomplishments and/or performances in the arts,
including fine arts, theater, and music; and
WHEREAS, Troy Chuckran has distinguished himself as a young man of
superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing standards of
excellence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and responsibility
rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Troy Chuckran, a Senior at Port Jervis High School, Port
Jervis, New York, has plans to join the United States Air Force after
graduation; and
WHEREAS, A multi-talented musician, Troy Chuckran played the roles of
both Captain Hook and Mr. Darling in his school's 2015 production of
Peter Pan; in addition, he is a member of several musical groups,
including Chamber Choir, Honors Choir, Acapella Choir, Jazz Band, and
Honors Band; and
WHEREAS, Troy Chuckran was also chosen to participate in the 2015
All-County Music Festival, selected to sing the Bass I part; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates, Troy Chuckran
has brought honor to his family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Troy Chuckran may stand with pride in his achievements, expe-
riencing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of his accomplish-
ments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as he continues
his education; and
WHEREAS, Troy Chuckran represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young man, recognizing his achievements and the promise of his
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Troy Chuckran upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES, and to
wish him well in his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Troy Chuckran.
