LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Jillian Cordisco upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by
the Orange-Ulster BOCES on May 1, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Jillian
Cordisco upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Senior
Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES celebrated at its
Second Annual Awards Breakfast, on May 1, 2015, at Kuhl's Highland
House, Middletown, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes outstanding high school
students for their accomplishments and/or performances in the arts,
including fine arts, theater, and music; and
WHEREAS, Jillian Cordisco has distinguished herself as a young woman
of superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing standards of
excellence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and responsibility
rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, A Senior at Port Jervis High School, Port Jervis, New York,
Jillian Cordisco has plans to major in Graphic Design at the main campus
of Penn State University; and
WHEREAS, In her school, Jillian Cordisco holds the leadership posi-
tions of Editor for the school's yearbook, President of the Varsity
Club, and Vice President for the Video Club; in addition, she is a
member of the National Honor Society, and serves as the Representative
for BOCES Senior Enrichment program; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her high school career, Jillian Cordisco has been
within the top 10 of her class in academics while balancing jobs, commu-
nity service, sports, and a social life; and
WHEREAS, A talented graphic designer, Jillian Cordisco designed the
Class of 2015 Junior Semi-Formal ticket, the Relay for Life print, and
many more posters which can be seen hanging around the campus; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Jillian Cordis-
co has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Jillian Cordisco may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accom-
plishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and
WHEREAS, Jillian Cordisco represents the potential inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to
honor this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of
her future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jillian Cordisco upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES, and
to wish her well in her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jillian Cordisco.
