LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Roberto J. Zayas upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by
the Orange-Ulster BOCES on May 1, 2015
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Roberto J.
Zayas upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Senior
Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES celebrated at its
Second Annual Awards Breakfast, on May 1, 2015, at Kuhl's Highland
House, Middletown, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes outstanding high school
students for their accomplishments and/or performances in the arts,
including fine arts, theater, and music; and
WHEREAS, Roberto J. Zayas has distinguished himself as a young man of
superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing standards of
excellence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and responsibility
rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, A Senior at Warwick Valley High School, Warwick, New York,
Roberto J. Zayas has plans to attend the State University of New York at
Binghamton after graduating; and
WHEREAS, A multi-talented musician, Roberto J. Zayas plays many
instruments including guitar, trombone, baritone horn, piano, and vari-
ous forms of percussion; and
WHEREAS, A Section Leader in both Wind Ensemble and Meistersingers,
Roberto J. Zayas has participated in the All-County Chorus Festival
three times, and the Area All-State Choir once; and
WHEREAS, A scholar athlete, Roberto J. Zayas has maintained a 4.0 GPA
throughout his high school career, and plays baseball on the Varsity
Baseball Team; and
WHEREAS, Roberto J. Zayas holds the position of Vice President of the
Student Senate, and Senator of his class; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for his classmates, Roberto J.
Zayas has brought honor to his family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Roberto J. Zayas may stand with pride in his achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of his accom-
plishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as he contin-
ues his education; and
WHEREAS, Roberto J. Zayas represents the potential inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to
honor this young man, recognizing his achievements and the promise of
his future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Roberto J. Zayas upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES, and
to wish him well in his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Roberto J. Zayas.
