LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Hannah Saunders upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the
Orange-Ulster BOCES on May 1, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Hannah Saun-
ders upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Senior
Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES celebrated at its
Second Annual Awards Breakfast, on May 1, 2015, at Kuhl's Highland
House, Middletown, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes outstanding high school
students for their accomplishments and/or performances in the arts,
including fine arts, theater, and music; and
WHEREAS, Hannah Saunders has distinguished herself as a young woman of
superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing standards of
excellence and achievement, purposefulness of life, and responsibility
rarely achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, A Senior at Minisink Valley High School, Slate Hill, New
York, Hannah Saunders has plans to major in Fashion Design at the Fash-
ion Institute of Technology, New York City, after graduating; and
WHEREAS, Hannah Saunders holds several leadership positions in various
clubs, including Treasurer of the K-9 Frenzy 4H Club, Head Mentor of the
National Honor Society, and Vice President of the Art Club; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her four years of high school, Hannah Saunders was
a member of the softball team, the cross country team, and the Philoso-
phy Club; she also attended a pre-college class at the Fashion Insti-
tute; and
WHEREAS, Hannah Saunders is actively involved with the Montague Grange
in New Jersey; she played a role in the community play and volunteered
at many events held at the Grange such as the Annual Harvest Festival
held in October; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Hannah Saunders
has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Hannah Saunders may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accom-
plishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and
WHEREAS, Hannah Saunders represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Hannah Saunders upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Senior Scholar Humanities Award by the Orange-Ulster BOCES, and
to wish her well in her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Hannah Saunders.
