LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Tim Tenney upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by Mount Saint Mary College on June
1, 2015

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Tim Tenney
upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by Mount
Saint Mary College, to be celebrated at its 37th Annual Invitational
Golf Tournament and 4th Annual Invitational Tennis Tournament on Monday,
June 1, 2015, at The Powelton Club, Newburgh, New York; and
WHEREAS, Tim Tenney has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; he has been selected as this year's Tennis
Honoree in recognition of his steadfast and unwavering commitment to
Mount Saint Mary College and the community-at-large; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in the Hudson Valley, Tim Tenney began work-
ing summers on the night shift for the Pepsi-Cola Newburgh Bottling
Company at 13 years of age after his father purchased the business in
1946; and
WHEREAS, Tim Tenney graduated from the University of Denver in 1973,
during which time he became a lacrosse coach, a position he held until
1976; he returned home to the family business that same year, and in
1983, became the company's President; he was named CEO in 1989, the
esteemed position he continues to hold today; and
WHEREAS, Active within the community, Tim Tenney coaches junior high
school lacrosse and is on numerous boards including Marist College where
he has been serving since 1999; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Tim Tenney has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Carolyn, and their
two children, Grace and Thomas, all of whom feel privileged to be a part
of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Tim Tenney has displayed throughout
his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Tim Tenney upon the occasion of his designation for special recog-
nition by Mount Saint Mary College on June 1, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Tim Tenney.
