LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 25th Anniversary of Leadership
Mohawk Valley on May 30, 2015

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those organizations within our midst who have
made significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the 25th
Anniversary of Leadership Mohawk Valley; this momentous occasion will be
celebrated on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at the Union Train Station, Utica,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Created in 1990 as a joint effort of the Herkimer, Utica (now
Mohawk Valley), and Rome Chambers of Commerce and area business leaders
to develop and utilize the leadership talent of professionals from the
community, Leadership Mohawk Valley (LMV) is a dynamic, ongoing program
to build leadership resources within the Mohawk Valley area; and
WHEREAS, LMV has been successful because a sense of urgency to develop
future leaders in the community was created 25 years ago; its 10-month
leadership program provides individuals with opportunities for personal
leadership development, presentational skills-building and professional
and personal growth, to gain a better understanding of group dynamics,
team leadership, and the value of networking; and
WHEREAS, Under the able and experienced leadership of its Director,
Ann Rushlo, LMV develops a knowledgeable group of people prepared to be
leaders in the community and to shape its future, which prepares indi-
viduals to better understand, to engage and to serve the community where
they live, work and play; and
WHEREAS, LMV also provides experience in group dynamics, team leader-
ship, presentation skills and professional and personal growth; the
"awareness and engagement" focus of the LMV program has produced over
500 graduates from the region between Little Falls and Rome; and
WHEREAS, Incorporating the philosophy of Community Trusteeship in its
program curriculum, LMV views its community as a gift or inheritance
from past generations and recognizes those who held the community in
trust; throughout the LMV program year, participants broaden their
perspectives, and confront the issues at large, thereby gaining a clear-
er picture of the community, as it exists today; and
WHEREAS, Ultimately, the LMV program concludes by serving as a spring-
board for the participant's future community leadership efforts; it is a
valuable asset towards achieving a preferred future; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Leadership Mohawk
Valley; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those individ-
uals and organizations which enhance the well-being and vitality of
their community and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excel-
lence certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all the
citizens of this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body recog-
nizes the many contributions of Leadership Mohawk Valley, and wishes
this worthy organization continued success in its proactive mission to
benefit the communities it represents; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Leadership Mohawk Valley; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ann Rushlo, Director, Leadership Mohawk Valley, Utica, New
York.
