LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Michael Graber upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2015 Best Friend Award by the Friends of
the Highland Falls Library on June 6, 2015
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Michael Graber upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2015 Best Friend Award by the Friends of the Highland Falls Library, to
be celebrated at its Spring Gala and Awards Reception, on Saturday, June
6, 2015, at the Highland Falls Library, Highland Falls, New York; and
WHEREAS, This prestigious award is bestowed upon Michael Graber for
his unfailing love and commitment to his community and the Highland
Falls Library; and
WHEREAS, Born in 1939, Michael Graber is a life-long resident of High-
land Falls, representing the 9th generation of citizens on his mother's
side; for numerous years, he was employed in the Florist/Horticulture
industry; and
WHEREAS, Devoted to his community, Michael Graber served as a Village
Trustee, and was a member of the Zoning Board; in addition, he has
worked with the local Scouts, and has organized many beautification
efforts around both the Town of Highlands and the Village of Highland
Falls; and
WHEREAS, An avid reader and history buff, Michael Graber served as a
Charter Board of Directors member, and President of the Fort Montgomery
Battle Site Association, as well as the 5th New York Re-enactors; both
organizations bring Revolutionary War History to life for local resi-
dents and visitors to Bear Mountain and West Point; and
WHEREAS, Michael Graber's energy and enthusiasm to share his talents
have made him one of the most popular program speakers at the Highland
Falls Library; his lectures range from flower arranging and gardening,
to local and regional history; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable man was also instrumental in launching a
History Club for sixth, seventh, and eighth graders at the Highland
Falls Library; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Michael Graber upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2015 Best Friend Award by the Friends of the Highland Falls
Library on June 6, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Michael Graber.
