LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Diane Berg, RJE in recognition of her 43
years of outstanding service in the education of Jewish youth by Temple
Beth El of Huntington
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in this great
State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Diane Berg, RJE in recognition of her 43 years of outstanding service in
the education of Jewish youth by Temple Beth El of Huntington; and
WHEREAS, In 1996, Diane Berg, RJE earned the title of Reform Jewish
Educator in recognition of her educational service to Jewish youth; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable woman also earned her Principal's Certif-
ication from the Federation of Reform Synagogues, Family Educator
Certification from the Board of Jewish Education of Greater New York,
and a re-Certification by the B.J.E. and Fordham University; and
WHEREAS, Diane Berg, RJE was trained by the Princeton Institute for
Leadership Training for the Gesher L'Kesher Program; for 11 years, she
was Director of the Morasha Teacher Training Institute (SAJES) and is on
the board of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Long Island; and
WHEREAS, Diane Berg, RJE served a double term as Chair of the Long
Island Temple Educators' Principals' Council and was on the Board of the
National Association of Temple Educators; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Diane Berg, RJE spent four years as Director of
Education at Congregation Beth Israel in West Hartford, Connecticut; she
has been working for Temple Beth El of Huntington for over 37 years; and
WHEREAS, Educators like Diane Berg, RJE provide a tremendous service
to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of young
people in their educational journeys and ensuring their success in their
future years; and
WHEREAS, Diane Berg, RJE has clearly had an enduring impact on the
youth of the Temple Beth El of Huntington as well as on the community-
at-large, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for her
impressive dedication to others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
Jewish education by providing their skills and talents to our schools;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Diane Berg, RJE in recognition of her 43 years of outstanding
service in the education of Jewish youth by Temple Beth El of Hunting-
ton; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Diane Berg, RJE.
