LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Craig Hill Elementary School
Library upon the occasion of its designation as the 2015 School Library
of the Year by the Rochester Regional Library Council
WHEREAS, School library programs provide the means for students to enter
a lifetime of learning while gaining cultural understanding and the
enhancement of global communication skills; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across the great
State of New York is reflective of certain exemplary library insti-
tutions whose purpose is dedicated to serving the community and the
needs of its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Craig Hill Elementary School Library upon the occasion of its desig-
nation as the 2015 School Library of the Year by the Rochester Regional
Library Council, to be celebrated at its Annual Meeting on Thursday,
June 4, 2015, at Casa Larga, Fairport, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Rochester Regional Library Council (RRLC) is a multi-type
library network serving libraries and library systems in the five-county
Rochester region of Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Wayne and Wyoming coun-
ties; and
WHEREAS, Each year, the RRLC recognizes one outstanding school library
which has provided exceptional service to the students in its community;
and
WHEREAS, The Craig Hill Elementary School Library, part of the Greece
Central School District, has served as an invaluable resource for its
students, teachers, administrators, and parents for many years; and
WHEREAS, An integral part of its community, this remarkable institu-
tion has strived to create an effective and enjoyable learning environ-
ment, while instilling a love of reading in the many young children it
serves; and
WHEREAS, With an atmosphere of caring, the Craig Hill Elementary
School Library offers popular activities for children such as story
times, book fairs, book clubs, and video chats with authors of chil-
dren's books; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Craig Hill Elementary School Library is in
direct correlation to the efforts of its staff, whose involvement is,
and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an
unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of this institution and the community it serves;
and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous guidance of Librarian Susan Sullivan, the
Craig Hill Elementary School Library will continue to help students to
inquire, think critically, and create and share knowledge for many more
years to come; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when insti-
tutions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, it should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Craig Hill Elementary School Library upon the occasion of
its designation as the 2015 School Library of the Year by the Rochester
Regional Library Council; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Susan Sullivan, Librarian, Craig Hill Elementary School
Library.
