LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Kathy Panepento upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Women of Distinction Peace Award by the
Genesee County YWCA on June 13, 2015

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Kathy Panepento has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Kathy Panepen-
to upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Women of
Distinction Peace Award by the Genesee County YWCA, to be celebrated at
its inaugural Women of Distinction Awards Gala on Saturday, June 13,
2015, at Stuart Steiner Theatre, Genesee Community College, Batavia, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Kathy Panepento has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, In 1998, Kathy Panepento founded Crossroads House, a comfort
care home for those who have a terminal illness and have been medically
determined to be in the last three months of life; and
WHEREAS, Located in Batavia, New York, this vital organization is an
alternative to a hospital or nursing home when care can no longer be
provided in the patient's own home; its services are provided for resi-
dents of Genesee, Wyoming and surrounding counties free of charge; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of Kathy Panepento, a Registered
Nurse, Crossroads House gives its patients an opportunity to live their
remaining days to the fullest; her knowledge of palliative care, compas-
sionate heart, and a true passion for giving her patients both comfort
and control, enable those who may otherwise be suffering, the ability to
be at peace; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Kathy Panepento has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Kathy Panepento has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kathy Panepento upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Women of Distinction Peace Award by the Genesee County YWCA on
June 13, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kathy Panepento.
