LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Heather Cummings upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Women of Distinction
Military/Veteran Award by the Genesee County YWCA on June 13, 2015

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Heather Cummings has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Heather
Cummings upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Women
of Distinction Military/Veteran Award by the Genesee County YWCA, to be
celebrated at its inaugural Women of Distinction Awards Gala on Satur-
day, June 13, 2015, at Stuart Steiner Theatre, Genesee Community
College, Batavia, New York; and
WHEREAS, Heather Cummings has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Crisis Intervention Counselor for the Air National Guard
Chaplain's Office, Heather Cummings is on call 24 hours a day, seven
days a week and is available to help anyone in need at all hours of the
day and night; and
WHEREAS, Heather Cummings has honorably served the 107th division of
the United States Air National Guard with distinction since 2002, prior
to which she gave six years to the Air Force Reserve before leaving to
raise her four beautiful children; and
WHEREAS, With her father's stint in the Army and her experience in the
Girl Scouts, Heather Cummings has always felt encouraged to do things
for her country and the community; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her steadfast dedication to military service,
Heather Cummings also serves as a teacher at Alexander Central School;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Heather Cummings has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Heather Cummings has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Heather Cummings upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Women of Distinction Military/Veteran Award by the Genesee County
YWCA on June 13, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Heather Cummings.
