LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending outgoing Treasurer Joan Stry upon the
occasion of her designation for special recognition by Troy Area United
Ministries on May 28, 2015
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Joan Stry has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend outgoing
Treasurer Joan Stry upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by Troy Area United Ministries to be celebrated on Thursday,
May 28, 2015, at the Franklin Terrace in Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, Troy Area United Ministries (TAUM) is an ecumenical associ-
ation of congregations joined with people of all faiths and backgrounds
to serve people in need, to work for social justice and to build a
stronger community; and
WHEREAS, Joan Stry is a Certified Public Accountant with John Ray and
Sons, a Deacon in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and a
member of Gilead Lutheran Church in Brunswick, New York; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed woman has served two full terms of six years
each on the board of TAUM, with the requisite one year off in between;
and
WHEREAS, For the past 12 years, she has expertly served as the organ-
ization's treasurer, serving faithfully for two separate six year terms;
and
WHEREAS, Joan Stry has been called upon to contribute her time,
talents, and resources to countless civic and charitable endeavors and
has always given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Active in her community, Joan Stry has provided her financial
expertise to numerous TAUM Campaigns, and has participated in all manner
of special events and ecumenical promotions; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Joan Stry has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Joan Stry has displayed throughout
her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend outgoing Treasurer Joan Stry upon the occasion of her desig-
nation for special recognition by Troy Area United Ministries; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Joan Stry.
