LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Zoe Koutsoupakis upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the 2015 Civic Award by the Bay Ridge
Community Council
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Zoe
Koutsoupakis upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
2015 Civic Award by the Bay Ridge Community Council to be celebrated at
its 64th Annual Dinner Dance on Thursday, June 4, 2015, in Brooklyn, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Born in Khartoum, Sudan to Greek parents, Zoe Koutsoupakis
was raised on the island of Karpathos in Greece; she later immigrated
with her family to the United States at the age of 14; and
WHEREAS, Zoe Koutsoupakis is a graduate of John Jay High School and
received her degree in Elementary Education from Brooklyn College; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed woman has achieved a successful 33-year career
in banking utilizing her admirable financial skills for the benefit of
both Greek Americans and the overall community; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Zoe Koutsoupakis is the Senior Vice President and
Group Director at Signature Bank; prior to this position, she served as
District Manager of Atlantic Bank and Marathon Bank; and
WHEREAS, Zoe Koutsoupakis has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her successful career, Zoe Koutsoupakis is
well-known for her dedication and service in the Greek American communi-
ty; she is a member of numerous organizations including the Federation
of Hellenic Societies of New York, Archdiocesan Organizations, Bay Ridge
Development Corp., and the local Boy Scouts of America, where she serves
as Chairperson; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, she has helped sponsor both the District 20 Drug
& Alcohol Abuse Prevention Fair and Ronald McDonald House, and has acted
as the Treasurer of the Greek America Property Owners of Brooklyn; and
WHEREAS, Zoe Koutsoupakis has been honored with the Hellenic Cultural
Award, the Kallikrateon Award, the Borough President's Business Women
Award, and the Boy Scouts of America's Women of Achievement Award; she
is also an honoree of St. Constantine and Helen Cathedral of Brooklyn,
the Guild for Exceptional Children, and the Diplatanos Society, Agia
Marina; and
WHEREAS, In addition, she has received the 2007 Brooklyn Real Estate
Board Business Achievements Award, the 2009 Extraordinary Women's Award
by the Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes, and the 2013 Distin-
guished Community Service Award from the Salaam Club of New York; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout has been her daughter, Paula-Anna, who
feels privileged to be a part of her life and rejoices in her achieve-
ments; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Zoe Koutsoupakis upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the 2015 Civic Award by the Bay Ridge Community Council; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Zoe Koutsoupakis.
