LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Oneida Shushe upon the occasion of
her designation as Teenager of the Year by the Colonie Lodge of Elks No.
2192
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the ideals
and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Oneida
Shushe upon the occasion of her designation as Teenager of the Year by
the Colonie Lodge of Elks No. 2192, to be celebrated with a Ceremony on
Thursday, May 28, 2015, at the Colonie Town Supervisor's Office; and
WHEREAS, Oneida Shushe was selected for this auspicious honor in
recognition of her strong academic performance, her service to her
school, and her commitment to the community; and
WHEREAS, An accomplished, conscientious and active student at Colonie
High School, Oneida Shushe has accumulated an impressive list of
achievements throughout her outstanding high school career; she is
whole-heartedly committed to her education and makes her academics her
number one priority; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her steadfast dedication to her studies, Onei-
da Shushe consumes herself with school and community extracurricular
activities where she takes on many different leadership roles; comforta-
ble in the lead, she is President of both the Key Club and Science Club;
and
WHEREAS, Oneida Shushe has been instrumental in starting a Book Club
at Colonie High School, as well as creating the Kindness Club and Bigger
Smiles Project, which promotes dental hygiene education in Albania; she
is also a member of the National Honor Society, Science Olympiad and the
William K. Sanford Teen Advisory Group; and
WHEREAS, Active within the community, Oneida Shushe has given tire-
lessly of her time and energies to St. Peter's Hospital, assisting
patients with their needs, as well as the Regional Food Bank of North-
eastern New York; and
WHEREAS, This exemplary young woman's unwavering desire to help others
is one of her most desirable traits; as our world faces many challenges,
it is refreshing to know students like Oneida Shushe, who believe that
demonstrating simple acts of kindness can make the world a better place;
and
WHEREAS, In achieving this high honor, Oneida Shushe may take just
pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of excellence
she brings to her family, friends, community and school; and
WHEREAS, Oneida Shushe's sense of civic duty and her commitment to
others represents the best development of the potential which is inher-
ent in our most precious resource, our youth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Oneida Shushe upon the occasion of her designation as Teen-
ager of the Year by the Colonie Lodge of Elks No. 2192; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Oneida Shushe.
