LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Warwick
Valley Fourth Degree Assembly of the Knights of Columbus on April 25,
2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those fraternal organizations of high purpose and worthy
accomplishment whose endeavors have faithfully served the welfare of the
citizens of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 50th Anniversary of the Warwick Valley Fourth Degree Assembly
of the Knights of Columbus which was celebrated at a gala dinner/dance
on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at the Clearview Winery in Warwick, New
York; and
WHEREAS, At the 2015 celebration, Grand Knight/President Jack Ellis
explained the history of the Fourth Degree exemplification and intro-
duced the newest members of the Warwick Assembly, including three gener-
ations of the Van Duzer family: Grandfather Robert Van Duzer, his son
Lloyd and his son Douglas; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1882, the Knights of Columbus is a Catholic
men's fraternal benefit society with more than 1.8 million members
located in over 14,000 Councils throughout the world; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding charitable fraternal organization in the State
of New York, the Warwick Valley Knights of Columbus Council was offi-
cially chartered on April 13, 1960; and
WHEREAS, The Warwick Valley Knights of Columbus Council is comprised
of more than 245 members, approximately 200 of whom live in or around
the Town of Warwick; there are 72 members of the Warwick Council's
Fourth Degree Assembly 0776, which was formed 50 years ago; and
WHEREAS, Throughout its distinguished history, the Warwick Valley
Fourth Degree Assembly Knights of Columbus has supported four ideals:
Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism; its members have exemplified
these principles through their support of worthy causes; and
WHEREAS, In so effectively carrying out its mission, the Warwick
Valley Fourth Degree Assembly Knights of Columbus has demonstrated the
value of fostering camaraderie in a shared vision of community service;
this mission is indicative of a noble organization which epitomizes the
heart and soul of what it means to be an American; and
WHEREAS, Organizations of singular distinction like the Warwick Valley
Fourth Degree Assembly Knights of Columbus provide a model for enhancing
the quality of life in the community and, as such, merit the grateful
praise of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Warwick Valley Fourth Degree
Assembly of the Knights of Columbus on April 25, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jack Ellis, Grand Knight/ President of the Warwick Valley
Knights of Columbus Council.
