LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Greg Kimiecik upon the occasion of
his induction into the 2014 Athletic Hall of Fame by the SS Seward
Institute
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those indi-
viduals whose exceptional athletic prowess leaves an enduring legacy in
their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Greg Kimiecik upon the occasion of his induction into the 2014
Athletic Hall of Fame by the SS Seward Institute, which was celebrated
at its Induction Ceremony on September 27, 2014; and
WHEREAS, An important figure in the history of the SS Seward Insti-
tute, Greg Kimiecik Class of 1975, had an outstanding high school
athletic career; he was a three-year varsity starter in both basketball
and baseball, and a two year starter in soccer; and
WHEREAS, In his junior year in basketball, Greg Kimiecik averaged 19
points per game which ranked third in the Tri-County area; he also shot
80 percent from the line; and
WHEREAS, His last two years as a member of the basketball team, Greg
Kimiecik had a string of more than 20 double digit scoring games,
featuring a 30-point effort against Minisink Valley; and
WHEREAS, As a junior and senior playing varsity soccer, Greg Kimiecik
was an all-around player; his unbeatable talents demonstrated his agili-
ty as a defensive player, scoring goals, and assisting other teammates
for goals; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Greg Kimiecik was instrumental in helping his
soccer team in scoring his senior year which featured a five-goal game
against Goshen; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his illustrious high school baseball career, Greg
Kimiecik's quick hands and strong arm made him an exceptional asset to
his team; his team won the Section 9 Class D Championship two years in a
row; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Greg Kimiecik was known for his line drives and
his success in stealing bases; and
WHEREAS, Upon graduating from OCCC, Greg Kimiecik earned a bachelor's
degree from Dominican College; and
WHEREAS, Recently, Greg Kimiecik retired from the Laborer's Union No.
17 after many years of distinguished service; and
WHEREAS, Today, Greg Kimiecik owns and operates a lawn mowing and
light landscaping business in Florida, New York; and
WHEREAS, When he is not running his business, Greg Kimiecik enjoys
hunting, fishing, taking wildlife photos, and recently discovered a love
for kayaking; and
WHEREAS, Athletes such as Greg Kimiecik provide a tremendous service
to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of
student-athletes in their athletic journeys and ensuring their success
in their future years; and
WHEREAS, Greg Kimiecik has clearly been an inspiration to the youth of
the SS Seward Institute, as well as to the community-at-large, and
accordingly merits recognition and applause for his impressive dedi-
cation to others; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
public education by providing their skills and talents to our students
and our schools; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Greg Kimiecik upon the occasion of his induction into the
2014 Athletic Hall of Fame by the SS Seward Institute; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Greg Kimiecik.
