LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Long Island School of Chinese upon
the occasion of hosting its 15th Anniversary Celebration on June 7, 2015
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those enduring organizations which faithfully devote their
resources and purposeful energies to improving the quality and dignity
of life in the communities they serve, and to preserving their cultural
heritage; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Long Island School of Chinese upon the occasion of hosting its 15th
Anniversary Celebration on Sunday, June 7, 2015, at Eisenhower Park,
East Meadow, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Long Island School of Chinese (LISOC) is a non-profit and
non-sectarian organization committed to sharing its Chinese culture and
tradition with families, friends and community members; and
WHEREAS, Established in 2000, the Long Island School of Chinese has
grown tremendously from a school with only a couple teachers and a dozen
students, to more than 30 teachers and over 450 students from 3000 fami-
lies across Queens County and Long Island; and
WHEREAS, For 15 years, this vital organization has been tirelessly
dedicated to promoting Chinese language, culture and tradition, as well
as serving as a major community center for the local Chinese population;
and
WHEREAS, The success of the Long Island School of Chinese is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its Administration and Staff, whose
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the commu-
nity it serves; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Long Island School
of Chinese; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Long Island School of Chinese upon the occasion of hosting
its 15th Anniversary Celebration on June 7, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Long Island School of Chinese.
