LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Louise McColgin upon the occasion of her
designation as the 2015 Zontian of the Year by the Zonta Club of Albany

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Louise McColgin has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Louise McCol-
gin upon the occasion of her designation as the 2015 Zontian of the Year
by the Zonta Club of Albany, to be celebrated on Wednesday, June 10,
2015; and
WHEREAS, Louise McColgin has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, An active and distinguished member of the Zonta International
since 1990, Louise McColgin has served the Zonta Club of Albany in
numerous capacities including as President, Vice President, Treasurer,
Director, Newsletter Editor, Service Chair and Literacy Chair; and
WHEREAS, In addition, she has tirelessly served such committees as the
Membership Committee, 50/50 Committee, Nominating Committee, and the
2007 Conference Committee; and
WHEREAS, For 25 years, Louise McColgin has truly exemplified the
club's mission of community and international service by giving back to
the people, an effort replicated by 30,000 Zonta members in 67 coun-
tries; and
WHEREAS, A steadfast volunteer both locally and internationally,
Louise McColgin has served the Albany Therapeutic Riding Center, and the
Landis Arboretum where she was previously Vice President and a sitting
member on the Board; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her ceaseless dedication to the Zonta Club of
Albany, Louise McColgin worked for the Girl Scouts for 18 years before
she served as the Executive Director of the Hudson Valley Girl Scout
Council, Inc. from 1989 to 2007; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Louise McColgin has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Louise McColgin has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Louise McColgin upon the occasion of her designation as the 2015
Zontian of the Year by the Zonta Club of Albany; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Louise McColgin.
