LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Reverend John J. Lynch upon the
occasion of celebrating the 50th Anniversary of his Ordination to the
Priesthood of the Archdiocese of New York on May 31, 2015

WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
this noble Empire State is nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their energies
and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to bring full
recognition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish them-
selves and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preemi-
nence of service; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Reverend John J. Lynch upon the occasion of celebrating the Golden
Jubilee of his Ordination to the Priesthood of the Archdiocese of New
York, to be rejoiced at a Mass on Sunday, May 31, 2015, at Immaculate
Conception Church, Woodburne, New York; and
WHEREAS, A native of Newburgh, New York, John J. Lynch was born to the
late John Lynch and the former Ann Brady; he attended Newburgh schools,
and graduated from St. Joseph's Seminary in Yonkers, New York, where he
studied classical languages; and
WHEREAS, On May 29, 1965, John J. Lynch was proudly ordained into the
priesthood of the Archdiocese of New York; and
WHEREAS, In 1974, Reverend John J. Lynch furthered his education by
obtaining his Ph.D. from Fordham University, New York City; he went on
to teach various elective courses in both St. Joseph's Seminary and the
Catechetical Institute of the Archdiocese; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Reverend John J. Lynch was assigned to
several parishes, including St. Gabriel's, New Rochelle; St. Mary Star
of the Sea, City Island; St. Mary of the Assumption, Katonah; St.
Sylvia's, Tivoli; and St. Joachim's, Beacon; and
WHEREAS, From 1974-1982, Reverend John J. Lynch represented the North-
east Bronx on the Senate of Clergy, serving as both a member and Chair-
man of its Education Committee; and
WHEREAS, In 1996, Reverend John J. Lynch was appointed to the position
of Spiritual Leader of Immaculate Conception Church, a title he still
holds today; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention, it
is appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that
individual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Reverend John J. Lynch upon the occasion of celebrating the
Golden Jubilee of his Ordination to the Priesthood of the Archdiocese of
New York, on May 31, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Reverend John J. Lynch.
