LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Antonino Di Peri upon the occasion
of celebrating his 100th Birthday on June 20, 2015

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to
the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their past
contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and valuable
asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Antoni-
no Di Peri upon the occasion of celebrating his 100th Birthday with a
Family Party in his honor on Saturday, June 20, 2015; and
WHEREAS, This exceptional centenarian, with his zest for life, has
inspired and enhanced the lives of his family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Antonino Di Peri was born on June 2, 1915, in Marineo, Sici-
ly, a small town in the province of Palermo; he married the love of his
life, Maria, on October 19, 1946, and this year the couple will cele-
brate their 69th Wedding Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Emigrating to America in September of 1956 aboard the Conte
Grande, Antonino Di Peri and his young family settled in an apartment on
Elizabeth Street in Little Italy before moving to the Lower East Side,
during which time he began working as a residential painter; and
WHEREAS, After 13 years of distinguished service as a painter, Antoni-
no Di Peri got a job working in the janitorial area of Marine Midland
Bank in Manhattan where he worked until he retired at the age of 70; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished man has experienced the incredible joys
and sorrows characteristic of and reserved for those with the stamina
and courage to savor a full life; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Maria, and their
three children, Concetta, Antoinette and Frank, as well as their six
grandchildren, Paul, Angelo, Laura, Anthony, Nicholas and Alexandra, and
two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Abigail, all of whom feel privileged
to be a part his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, A truly beloved man, Antonino Di Peri has enriched the lives
of those around him through his joyous and sincere love for others and
through the quiescent charm and wisdom which comes only from a fullness
of years; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly recog-
nize those who have reached such a remarkable age and who have witnessed
and celebrated the innovations, cultural developments and awesome
achievements of this country during the last century, while themselves
contributing to the growth and excellence of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Antonino Di Peri upon the occasion of celebrating his 100th
Birthday; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Antonino Di Peri.
