LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION celebrating the success of the Catskill Recre-
ation Center's inaugural year serving the community

WHEREAS, The Legislature of the State of New York seeks to acknowledge
those individuals and organizations whose service to their community
helps to enhance the stature of their community and the State of New
York; and
WHEREAS, Individuals and organizations who give of their time and
energies and serve the best interests of their communities are an asset
beyond remuneration and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, The Gould Family conceived of developing the Catskill Recre-
ation Center as a community center for the Northern and Central Cats-
kills region, and with their generous support, this vision was realized
on June 7, 2014; and
WHEREAS, In their first year in operation, the Catskill Recreation
Center has offered an extensive variety of programs to the region in the
areas of fitness, wellness, nutrition, and swimming, promoting both
healthy community activities and events for all ages; and
WHEREAS, The Catskill Recreation Center consists of a six-lane lap
pool, family pool, fully equipped fitness center, and classroom, amen-
ities that have helped to attract a membership of more than 600 persons
as well as providing more than 30 jobs within the greater community; and
WHEREAS, Also vital to the organization's programming, the Catskill
Recreation Center has become an American Red Cross training facility,
with staff teaching swim lessons, lifeguarding and the basic life
support for health care providers; and
WHEREAS, The Catskill Recreation Center, in only a short amount of
time, has demonstrated hard work, leadership, compassion and dedication
to service within the Northern and Central Catskills, contributing to
the early success of the organization; and
WHEREAS, Through the tireless efforts of the staff and director, the
Catskill Recreation Center continues to significantly contribute to the
overall quality of life and well-being of the people of the region; and
WHEREAS, The Catskill Recreation Center, already planning for the
future, envisions strengthening community partnerships and programs for
many years to come; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in our society
have earned the recognition and respect of all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
celebrate the success of the Catskill Recreation Center's inaugural year
and to recognize their unceasing dedication to the community, along with
best wishes for their continued success; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Catskill Recreation Center.
