LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Emily Ooms upon the occasion of
being named the 2015-2016 Columbia County Dairy Princess
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the ideals
and values cherished by citizens of this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Emily Ooms upon the occasion of being named the 2015-2016 Columbia
County Dairy Princess; she was officially crowned at a ceremony held at
the Taconic Hills Performing Arts Center on Sunday, May 3, 2015; and
WHEREAS, The Dairy Princess program, sponsored by the American Dairy
Association and Dairy Council, seeks to highlight the nutrition and
importance of dairy products while also fostering a deeper appreciation
of local dairy farmers within the community; and
WHEREAS, A resident of the Town of Valatie, New York, Emily Ooms is a
junior at Chatham High School, and a devoted member of her local farming
community; and
WHEREAS, Emily Ooms has served as a dairy ambassador, and is an active
member of the local dairy industry; she continually helps out on her
family's farm, A.Ooms and Sons Farm, and has been instrumental in help-
ing others to become involved in the dairy promotion program; and
WHEREAS, In her role as 2015-2016 Columbia County Dairy Princess,
Emily Ooms looks forward to conducting numerous activities to help
educate children and consumers about local dairy farmers and the bene-
fits of dairy products; and
WHEREAS, Through her active involvement in the community and her
sincere dedication to local dairy farming, Emily Ooms is a true role
model for her peers; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
young woman now stands honorably, with just pride in her accomplishments
and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appre-
ciating the caring counsel and support provided by her teachers, and
parents; and
WHEREAS, Emily Ooms exemplifies the best potential which is inherent
in our most precious resource, our youth; she has brought enduring honor
to her family and her community through her many achievements; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Emily Ooms upon the occasion of being named the 2015-2016
Columbia County Dairy Princess, and to wish her continued success in all
her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Emily Ooms.
