LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Roy Vasile upon the occasion of being
named to the 2015 Nassau County Police Activity League Roll of Heroes
WHEREAS, Volunteerism is an essential element of all societies; it
provides a way in which the human values of community, caring and serv-
ing can be sustained and strengthened; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to call attention
to the dedicated efforts of those individuals from across the State of
New York who volunteer their time and energies in service to the commu-
nity; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in accord with its long-stand-
ing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Roy
Vasile upon the occasion of being named to the 2015 Nassau County Police
Activity League Roll of PAL Heroes celebrated at the Inaugural NCPAL
"Get in the Game" Gala held on Friday, May 1, 2015, at the Coral House
in Baldwin, New York; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1940, the Nassau County Police Activity League
(NCPAL), is a nonprofit organization which offers sports and other
programs for over 35,000 young people from across Nassau County with a
mission of preventing juvenile delinquency and aiding in positive inter-
actions between Police Officers and youth; and
WHEREAS, A Merrick Unit Volunteer, Roy Vasile has set himself apart
through his exceptional service and long-term dedication to the youth of
his community in keeping with the core PAL philosophy that it is "better
to build youths than to mend adults"; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed man began his volunteer service with a youth
organization that merged with PAL to provide a broader program of activ-
ities to area young people; he has volunteered as a coach, and in such
positions as commissioner, trustee, and member of the executive board;
and
WHEREAS, In addition, Roy Vasile is the NCPAL Headquarters Legal Coun-
sel, and maintains his practice as a personal injury attorney; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Roy Vasile has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism promotes family and community solidarity; most
importantly, people who volunteer their time in civic and charitable
endeavors inspire others to the call of volunteerism; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend individ-
uals of outstanding character, who have shown initiative and commitment
toward constantly pursuing higher goals for themselves, and acting as
role models of leadership to be emulated by both peers and young people;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Roy Vasile upon the occasion of being named to the 2015 Nassau
County Police Activity League Roll of PAL Heroes; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Roy Vasile.
