LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring John Daly upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Sister Maureen Joyce Charities Award on
June 18, 2015

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor John Daly upon
the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Sister Maureen Joyce
Charities Award by Catholic Charities, to be celebrated at its 3rd Annu-
al Night at the Museum Event on Thursday, June 18, 2015, at the New York
State Museum, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, A valued and involved member of his community, John Daly has
been called upon to contribute his time and talents to countless civic
and charitable endeavors and always gave of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, John Daly is being honored with this auspicious award for his
years of steadfast and unremitting service on the Catholic Charities
Board of Trustees; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Amsterdam, John Daly has been active in improv-
ing his local community for more than five decades; as a businessman, he
was the co-founder of Alpin Haus, one of the area's largest outdoor and
recreational vehicle retailers; and
WHEREAS, John Daly has served as a volunteer and board member with
countless organizations including St. Mary's Hospital, the Boy Scouts of
America, and Rotary Club; in addition, he has been an active board
member of Catholic Charities in Montgomery County for many years and has
served on the Catholic Charities Board of Trustees since 2008; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, John Daly has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which John Daly has displayed throughout
his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor John Daly upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Sister Maureen Joyce Charities Award on June 18, 2015, and to wish him
continued success in all of his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to John Daly.
