LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Steven Mason upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Joseph R. Simon Senior Housing Award by
the Colonie Senior Service Centers
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Steven Mason has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Steven Mason
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Joseph R. Simon
Senior Housing Award by the Colonie Senior Service Centers; this momen-
tous occasion was celebrated at its 13th Annual Founders' Awards Dinner
on Monday, October 20, 2014; and
WHEREAS, The Colonie Senior Service Centers (CSSC) is a nonprofit,
community-based senior service organization serving seniors and their
families throughout the Capital Region for the past 30 years; each year
the Founders' Awards Dinner honors six businesses and community leaders
who reflect the commitment, vision and leadership exemplified by the
founders of CSSC; and
WHEREAS, Steven Mason has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Since 2008, Steven Mason has helped hundreds of local seniors
to identify and correct safety hazards throughout their homes by provid-
ing a 17-point Safety Home Inspection to all Umbrella of Colonie
members; and
WHEREAS, Without this inspection, potential dangers, such as fire
risks and fall hazards, could go unnoticed; and
WHEREAS, In addition to serving as Inspector for both Umbrella of the
Capital District and Umbrella of CSSC, Steven Mason is the owner of SM
Home Inspection in Voorheesville, New York; he is a New York State
Licensed Home Inspector and FHA Listed Home Inspector; and
WHEREAS, Steven Mason is trained in Radon Measurement and Mitigation
through Rutgers University, as well as Essentials for Healthy Homes by
the National Center for Healthy Housing; he is also trained in Manufac-
tured Housing by the New York Housing Association, and in EPA/HUD Lead
Based Paint Renovation; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, he is a member of the International Association
of Certified Home Inspectors, and a Building Performance Institute
Certified Professional; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Steven Mason has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Steven Mason has displayed through-
out his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Steven Mason upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Joseph R. Simon Senior Housing Award by the Colonie Senior Service
Centers; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Steven Mason.
