LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Barbara Mohan upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Marion T. Lamar Health and Recreation
Award by the Colonie Senior Service Centers
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Barbara Mohan has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Barbara Mohan
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Marion T. Lamar
Health and Recreation Award by the Colonie Senior Service Centers; this
momentous occasion was celebrated at its 13th Annual Founders' Awards
Dinner on Monday, October 20, 2014; and
WHEREAS, The Colonie Senior Service Centers (CSSC) is a nonprofit,
community-based senior service organization serving seniors and their
families throughout the Capital Region for the past 30 years; each year
the Founders' Award Dinner honors six businesses and community leaders
who reflect the commitment, vision and leadership exemplified by the
founders of CSSC; and
WHEREAS, Barbara Mohan has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, For many years, Barbara Mohan has dedicated much of her time
to helping others stay active as a class leader for Colonie Senior
Service Centers' Healthy Aging programs including Balance and Healthy
Bones for Life; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, many seniors credit Barbara Mohan with motivat-
ing them to start their fitness journey, encouraging them to do their
best while never pressuring them into doing more than they are able; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Barbara Mohan has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Barbara Mohan has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Barbara Mohan upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Marion T. Lamar Health and Recreation Award by the Colonie Senior
Service Centers; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Barbara Mohan.
