LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Father Carlo Stirpe upon the occasion of
celebrating the 50th Anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood

WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
this noble Empire State is nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their energies
and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full recog-
nition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish themselves
and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preeminence of
service; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Father Carlo Stirpe upon the occasion of celebrating the 50th Anniver-
sary of his Ordination to the Priesthood; this momentous occasion was
celebrated with a Mass followed by a Reception on Sunday, May 3, 2015,
at St. John's in Camden, New York; and
WHEREAS, Father Carlo Stirpe has been called upon to contribute time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A native of St. Brigid Church in Syracuse, Father Carlo
Stirpe graduated from St. Patrick High School in 1957; he went on to
seminary studies at St. Jerome and St. Bernard, and was ordained a
priest for the Diocese of Syracuse on May 1, 1965; and
WHEREAS, Father Carlo Stirpe has served as Associate Pastor at St.
John, Camden; Our Lady of Pompei, Syracuse; St. Anthony of Padua, Utica;
St. Charles Borromeo, Syracuse; and Blessed Sacrament, Utica; as Admin-
istrator of St. Anthony, Cortland; and St. Joseph, Camillus; and as
Pastor at St. Anthony, Cortland; Immaculate Conception, Fulton; and St.
John in Camden, where he has served since 2004; and
WHEREAS, In addition, this esteemed man served on the faculty of Bish-
op Grimes High School in East Syracuse, teaching Italian and English;
and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Father Carlo Stirpe has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, The spiritual guidance and nurturing of the citizens of the
State of New York are of great importance to the vitality and well-being
of our communities; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to bring full
recognition and just tribute to men and women of religious commitment
who accept the responsibility of moral leadership and render the wisdom
of human understanding; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Father Carlo Stirpe upon the occasion of celebrating the 50th
Anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Father Carlo Stirpe.
