LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Father Paul Madej upon the occasion of
celebrating the 25th Anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood

WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
this noble Empire State is nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their energies
and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full recog-
nition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish themselves
and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preeminence of
service; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Father Paul Madej upon the occasion of celebrating the 25th Anniversary
of his Ordination to the Priesthood; and
WHEREAS, Father Paul Madej has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A native of Utica, Father Paul Madej attended his parish's
elementary school at Holy Trinity; upon graduating from Notre Dame High
School in 1982, he studied at Wadhams Hall Seminary and Le Moyne
College; he completed his seminary studies at The American College of
Louvain in Belgium and was ordained on December 8, 1990 at the Cathedral
of the Immaculate Conception in Syracuse; and
WHEREAS, Father Paul Madej's first assignment was to serve as Associ-
ate Pastor of St. Margaret's in Mattydale, a position he held for five
years; and
WHEREAS, With a true passion for those who are willing to serve our
Nation in war and in peace, Father Paul Madej has been assigned to the
following United States Army Posts throughout his illustrious career:
Fort Campbell, Kentucky, deploying to Operation Enduring Freedom I and
Operation Iraqi Freedom I; Wiesbaden, Germany, deploying to Bosnia; Fort
Carson, Colorado, deploying to Operation Iraqi Freedom IX; Fort Jackson,
South Carolina, training Army and Navy Chaplains of all faith groups;
and Fort Irwin, California, managing training for mid-grade deploying
Chaplains of all faith groups at the National Training Center, United
States Army Garrison; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Father Paul Madej has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, The spiritual guidance and nurturing of the citizens of the
State of New York are of great importance to the vitality and well-being
of our communities; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to bring full
recognition and just tribute to men and women of religious commitment
who accept the responsibility of moral leadership and render the wisdom
of human understanding; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Father Paul Madej upon the occasion of celebrating the 25th Anni-
versary of his Ordination to the Priesthood; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Father Paul Madej.
