LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Geoffreoi Flournoy, Meredith Marshall,
and Steven C. Smith, Partners of BRP Companies, upon the occasion of
their designation for special recognition by the Local Development
Corporation of East New York on June 4, 2015

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Geoffreoi Flournoy, Meredith Marshall, and Steven C. Smith, Partners of
BRP Companies, upon the occasion of their designation for special recog-
nition by the Local Development Corporation of East New York, celebrated
at its 35th Annual Awards Dinner, on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at The
Liberty Warehouse, Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Geoffreoi Flournoy, Meredith Marshall, and Steven C. Smith,
Partners of BRP Companies, are being recognized with this esteemed honor
for their outstanding efforts to help reduce poverty and promote pros-
perity in East New York; and
WHEREAS, BRP Companies is a New York based real estate firm which is
at the forefront of affordable, mixed-income, and market-rate housing
and commercial developments; and
WHEREAS, From the firm's modest beginning in 1998, as a local develop-
ment company, BRP Companies has successfully evolved into a vertically
integrated organization offering a full complement of development,
construction, property management, and financial services; and
WHEREAS, Founded 35 years ago, the Local Development Corporation of
East New York (LDCENY) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to
making East Brooklyn a better place to live and work; and
WHEREAS, LDCENY empowers low-to-moderate income women and minorities
with programs which promote economic sufficiency, build assets and
improve their lives and those of their families; and
WHEREAS, This vital organization works with local businesses to retain
and build industry and commerce, create jobs and improve economic oppor-
tunities for local residents and neighborhood enterprises; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of Executive Director Sherry
Roberts, LDCENY offers its clients numerous services and programs,
including Starting a Business, Grow Your Business, Money Management,
Mentoring Program, Workshops and Seminars, Small Business Financing, and
Professional Development, as well as a Women's Business Center; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those organiza-
tions which enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and
have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have
earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Geoffreoi Flournoy, Meredith Marshall, and Steven C. Smith,
Partners of BRP Companies, upon the occasion of their designation for
special recognition by the Local Development Corporation of East New
York on June 4, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Geoffreoi Flournoy, Meredith Marshall, and Steven C. Smith.
