LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of prominent music industry
veteran John Loscalzo, distinguished citizen and devoted member of the
Brooklyn Heights community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding media personalities whose professional lives, personal
endeavors, and community service are an example and inspiration to their
colleagues, friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, John Loscalzo of Brooklyn Heights died on Wednesday, April 1,
2015, at the age of 52; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of New York University where he was a host of
WNYU's popular New Afternoon Show, John Loscalzo began his career in
1984 at Advanced Alternative Media, promoting new releases to college
radio and retail; and
WHEREAS, John Loscalzo served at WPDH, WRCN, WDRE, VVXRK, KROQ, Bill-
board, Sony Worldwide Networks, WXRK, Viacom, MTV and CBS, and will be
remembered for his inspiring, unique style and fun sense of humor; and
WHEREAS, In 2006, John Loscalzo founded the Brooklyn Heights Blog in
order to provide "Dispatches from America's first suburb"; and
WHEREAS, In "America's First Suburb," John Loscalzo was better known
by his 'nom de blog' Homer Fink; and
WHEREAS, Homer Fink earned a devoted following, covering major issues
from Brooklyn Bridge Park, to transportation, to local politics, even
skillfully hosting candidate forums; and
WHEREAS, While often being one of the most in-depth resources on major
Brooklyn Heights issues, the Blog also approached local issues with a
sense of humor and ensured that no story was too small, from "reuniting
a baby with her lost shoe," to covering the saga of Lemi, the missing
Parakeet, just to name a few; and
WHEREAS, John Loscalzo distinguished himself in his profession and by
his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
his community; and
WHEREAS, John Loscalzo is survived by his wife of 23 years, Tracy
Zamot, and their daughter, Gracie; and
WHEREAS, John leaves behind a legacy which will long endure the
passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he served
and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of prominent music industry veteran John Loscalzo,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of the Brooklyn Heights commu-
nity; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of John Loscalzo.
