LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 4th Anniversary of The Brian
Dugan 5K Memorial Scholarship Road Race on May 29, 2015
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 4th Anniversary of The Brian Dugan 5K Memorial Scholarship
Road Race held on Friday, May 29, 2015, in Tonawanda, New York; and
WHEREAS, The mission of The Brian Dugan 5K Memorial Scholarship Road
Race is to celebrate the life of Brian Dugan, a former Kenmore West
English teacher, who tragically lost his life in 2010; and
WHEREAS, This annual Tonawanda event works to raise donations for The
Brian Dugan Scholarship Fund which assists Kenmore West High School
students in fulfilling their dreams of receiving a college education;
and
WHEREAS, A vital and active part of the community, Brian C. Dugan is
survived by his wife Ann, who supports this auspicious event as a way to
carry on the memory of the many contributions he made to the Tonawanda
community; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, Brian C. Dugan is survived by their
two children, Jackson Thomas and Aidan Daniel Dugan; his parents, Robert
and Mary Dugan; one brother Daniel; father and mother-in-law, James and
Donna Christmann; his brother-in-law, Daniel (Samantha); and grandmoth-
er-in-law, Dorothy; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends;
and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit, imbued with a sense of
compassion, and comforted by a loving family, Brian C. Dugan left behind
a legacy of caring five years ago which will long endure the passage of
time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he served and
befriended; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when events of
such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our attention, they
should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 4th Anniversary of The Brian Dugan 5K Memorial Scholar-
ship Road Race on May 29, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ann Dugan, and The Brian Dugan Scholarship Fund.
