LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Herb Chessler upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition as President of the New York State
Association of School Business Officials during the 2014-2015 school
year
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Herb Ches-
sler upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition as
President of the New York State Association of School Business Officials
during the 2014-2015 school year, to be feted at its Inaugural Cele-
bration at its 67th Annual Conference, on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at the
Hall of Springs, Saratoga Springs, New York; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1948, New York State Association of School Busi-
ness Officials (NYSASBO) is a nonprofit membership organization affil-
iated with the Association of School Business Officials International
and chartered by the New York State Board of Regents; and
WHEREAS, Herb Chessler earned his bachelor's degree in Business Admin-
istration from Adelphi University, Garden City, New York; he then went
on to receive his master's degree in Business Administration from Dowl-
ing College, Oakdale, New York; and
WHEREAS, Herb Chessler furthered his education by obtaining his SBA
certification at Long Island University; and
WHEREAS, For approximately 28 years, Herb Chessler has worked in the
education field; he began his career as a Treasurer/Accountant, and
worked his way up through the ranks, while going back to school; and
WHEREAS, For over 10 years, Herb Chessler has held the position of
Assistant Superintendent for Business in the Middle Country Central
School District, and as a lead business official since 2000; and
WHEREAS, Herb Chessler has been a member of the NYSASBO Board of
Directors from 2009-2013, holding the title of President-Elect from
2013-2014; currently, he holds the esteemed position of President; in
this capacity, he was instrumental in both the growth and visibility of
the association in the media and among State policymakers; and
WHEREAS, Herb Chessler has participated on various state-level commit-
tees including the NYSASBO Professional Development/Annual Conference
Committee, serving as Vice Chair for two years, and Chair for an addi-
tional two years; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, he held the leadership positions of President, Vice
President, and President-Elect of Suffolk Association of School Business
Officials (ASBO); and
WHEREAS, Herb Chessler was selected to work on the New York State
Certification Examination Committee which developed the testing require-
ments for new graduates in the field; he was also a proud graduate of
the NYSASBO SBO Leadership Academy; and
WHEREAS, For many years, Herb Chessler has rendered faithful, consci-
entious and valuable service to the NYSASBO, serving with loyalty, honor
and distinction; and
WHEREAS, In his official acts, Herb Chessler was governed by a keen
sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems;
throughout his tenure, he earned the admiration, esteem and affection of
his colleagues; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Herb Chessler upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition as the President of the New York State Association of School
Business Officials during the 2014-2015 school year; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Herb Chessler.
